Yes, Truth will always triumph over lies. Yes, truth indeed does set you free. But WHERE the truth sets you on is another matter entirely.
do we want to know the truth? of course we do, we seek it in our studies in science, religion, the physical and the spiritual. But once we know the truth, we stand upon the montain of knowledge of which we have been climbing, our eyes are opened to the evils and paradoxes of the world. And if you do not acend further up to the peak one becomes disillusioned by the uncovered lies, unable to see the objective in climbing the mountain of knowledge in the first place.
Let me put forth this example; The world renowned youth pastor who's plight of having cancer was nothing but a lie to hide his obsession of pornography. The gifted spiritual leader and without doubt he really is, had been beaten by the devil and pulled into the temptations of pornography, and in an effort to cover his tracks puts on the mask, the mask of being struck down in the prime of his life by cancer. But the devil's plan had backfired. that youth pastor wrote songs, beautiful songs, that not only inspired others who really had cancer but also brought many lost sheep back to the fold.
The devil thought of a different strategy; one that would use one of god's own weapons against him, the power of truth. The devil intentioally made that pastor so guilt riddened that he would decide to confess it all. the pastor did, and it not only hurt the churche's name but also sent all those who had been saved by his mask tumbling back into pain. so the score so far: devil 2, god 1.
In time god will salvage the worst of the situation and turn the tables back on the devil, but to me the second defeat felt unnecessary. if he had already worn the mask, there's no turning back. But if that mask did soo much good, why take it off just yet? all he's gonna do is just make a huge ripple and destroy all the good that has been done; of course, that having said, you also shouldn't keep that mask on for too long, cause sooner or later it's gonna have to come down. Based on what I had deduced, he could have kept that mask on longer and remove the blemish he had been trying to hide which was his obsession with pornography, so that when the mask finally comes off all people see is a clean face. If people ask why keep on the mask in the first place, it is THEN that the truth can be used to god's advantage and really give the devil a good kick in the ass and made the scoreboard a solid 3 for god, zero of devil.
Back to the issue of truth; it's basically a sharp double edged sword. The Double edged sword is a great weapon, but if the one who weilds it knows not how to properly, he will end up hurting himself. The same is true with knowledge and truth. while it destroys the lie and uncovers the reality, it also makes us skeptical of our beliefs, which if not dealt with properly can become disasterous. A man with the knowledge of the failing of spiritual leaders will find it hard to not be skeptical of other spiritual leaders if or if they not fail. The man with his eyes open becomes disillusioned by the fog of daily realities such as lies and conspiracies. he becomes paranoid, untrusting and suspicious.
Tonight I had gone to the bible sharing which the youth hold forthnightly in search of answers, but instead found myself answering their questions. I became fustrated, and almost left for home but something made me go back to the crowd of singing and worshipping fanatics and observe them. as I watched them singing and praising god, I felt a tinge of envy; yes, they were blind to reality, but at least they're happy. and not only that, they were happy in the presence of god. But they were blind were they not? they keep themselves going down a narrow path following after the leader, and if that leader drops into the ditch so do they, they cannot see the ditch and without someone to tell them it's there they'll just walk right in. I looked out into the sky and asked god for an answer, and in my confusion, god finally chose to answer.
First was the realisation that the ones with blind faith are the ones who are truly happy. then I asked another question; How can I go back to being blind and happy? The fruit of knowledge has been eaten, and I cannot change the fact that I will always see what others may not. god answered that question with the lead singer who at that very moment said "God is the Way, the truth and the life" and I saw that sentence in a whole new light. If my eyes are already opened, then I might as well make good use of it and turn the curse into a blessing. It is people like me, truth seekers who watch the head of the train to God, and make sure it doesn't stray from the right path. Let the blind be blind, so long as they believe. only if they WANT to seek the truth do you reveal it to them, for knowledge is a responsibility one must bear for eternity. I tell you, when I saw this realisation, I was laughing to myself like an idiot. I must've looked wierd talking to the roof... xp
well, it's getting late, I gotta sign off. I suppose I'll rejoin the youth, but not as one of the ministry. rather, I will bide my time and watch them and make sure they do not become a second Rev. Jim Jones.
