Bring good walking shoes. That's the advice I'd give immediately to anyone attempting what I'm doing now. At least I packed well, don't have to worry about much for now.
There are only three things I can comment about in China Town that sets it apart from Kuching, one is the fact that sexuality is a public norm. From the inconspicuous Massage parlors and spas to the outright obvious Adult cinemas and sex shops, Singapore makes no attempt to hide it's thriving adult industry.
Sucks That I don't do stuff like that.
Another thing is that MRTs are the lifesavers for the normal backpacker. Whether you're heading up to Little India or trying to scope out Marina Bay, This mode of transport's the cheapest way to get about. IF you don't mind walking afterwards.
Finally, Bed and Breakfast in China Town is hard to find cheap. The only backpacker inn in the whole area was full, so I had no choice but to stay at Yes Chinatown PT. Hotel for fifty damm Sing dollars. I have to find a cheaper BB tomorrow or I'll be walking around with a seriously tight purse for the rest of the trip.
Now I'm at a Cyber Cafe in the middle of Clarke Quay, quite literally drinking central. They even have this one place where they're using a clinic setting for a bar, and they serve drinks in cups supplied by a dripper. Yes, the same dripper you see in hospitals, a plastic bag suspended on a stand and dripping beer into a glass.
I'm running out of time, till tomorrow then.
